John Bello
John Bello is the founder and former CEO of South Beach Beverage Company, the maker of nutritionally enhanced teas and juices marketed under the brand name SoBe. PepsiCo purchased the company - established in 1995 - in 2001 for $370 million. Currently, Bello is CEO of Firefighter Brands, a business he founded in 2003. The company will, market nationally a line of food products under the Firefighter brand name featuring a proprietary Maltese cross logo. The companies are working with firefighters and retailers with a substantial share of the profits going to firefighter related worthy causes and activities through the company’s Firefighter Brand Foundation. Bello is also Chairman of Soup Kitchen International, a recently formed company that is marketing the soups made by Al Yeganeh, the New York soup chef that inspired the famous Seinfeld “Soup Nazi” episode. Bello is venture partner with Sherbrooke Capital, a growth and venture capital company that invests in Health and Wellness space. He is chairman of Izze Beverage and on the board of the Boathouse Sports, Sherbrooke portfolio companies.
In 2001, Ernst and Young named Bello national Entrepreneur of the Year in the Consumer Products category for his work with SoBe. The Ernst and Young E&Y program is a worldwide competition that honors the best entrepreneurs and recognizes their positive impact and contributions to America through the creation of value, jobs and advancing social responsibility.
Prior to founding SoBe, Bello, 59, spent 14 years at National Football League Properties, the marketing arm of the NFL. As President, Bello is credited for building NFL Properties into a sports marketing leader and creating the model by which every major sports league now operates.
Steve Lipscomb
Steven Lipscomb is the visionary, founder, and President of WPT Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: WPTE), the company behind the WORLD POKER TOUR® (WPT).
Lipscomb has become the authority on televised poker, having introduced the “WPT Cam.” This revolutionary new technology captures the players’ hole cards and reveals them to the audience of televised poker using on-screen graphic representation and storytelling.
Lipscomb has extensive experience filming professional poker. In 1999, he produced and directed "On the Inside of The World Series of Poker" for the Discovery channel, the highest rated poker show in the history of television. He also filmed the "2001 Tournament of Champions of Poker," before going on to create and executive produce "Cruisin' to a Million" for the Travel Channel, a program showcasing a million-dollar poker tournament on a cruise ship in the Mexican Riviera.
Lipscomb has worked closely with such luminaries as Al Burton, Norman Lear and Alvin Toffler to create successful films and television shows. His numerous credits include "Turn Ben Stein On," "Beyond Future Shock," and "Battle for the Minds."
Launching into uncharted waters in 2003, Lipscomb created the first professional poker tour, the first weekly-televised poker series, a leading production company that develops concepts around poker and gaming, and a licensing arm that is aligning with manufacturers, publishers and other organizations to bring to market WPT-branded consumer products.
In August 2004, the company went public as WPT Enterprises, Inc. Most recently, Lipscomb launched the first league for professional poker players, the PROFESSIONAL POKER TOUR (PPT)™. During 2004-2005 Lipscomb and the WPT Enterprises will produce 24 WPT regular season shows, WPT specials (i.e. Ladies’ Night, Poker By The Book, Stars of Discovery) and PPT tournaments for television.
Formerly an attorney with Gibson, Dunn, & Crutcher, Lipscomb received his B.A. with honors from Dartmouth College, where he was president of his class. He received his J.D. from the University of Chicago, where he was a Greenberg Scholar. Lipscomb sold his own attorney referral business to fund his first film.
Matthew Marolda
Matthew Marolda is the founder and CEO of StratBridge. Since its founding in 1999, Mr. Marolda has led the rapid growth of StratBridge in terms of revenue, clients and software development. StratBridge has served a wide range of clients, including: large professional services firms, major global consulting firms, Fortune 500 corporations, a variety of investment firms, professional sports organizations, and major colleges. Recently, Matt drove StratBridge's rapid penetration into the professional sports market, growing the company's client base from one franchise to over 100 in less than a year, and establishing StratBridge as a leader in ticket sales optimization and player analysis. Prior to starting StratBridge, Mr. Marolda was a consultant at Braxton Associates, now the strategy practice of Deloitte Consulting. Mr. Marolda earned his M.B.A. at the Tuck School at Dartmouth where he won the Adams Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship, and obtained his BA from Bowdoin College with honors.
Luke Goldstein
Mr. Goldstein is currently in his sixth season as video coordinator for the Virginia football program. He coordinates the acquisition and production of principle video footage for use by the UVA coaches for scouting and game preparation. Goldstein previously served for one year as the Director of League Video Operations for the SFL. From 1998 to 2000, he was the director of video operations at Southern California. Before that, he spent three years (1995-1998) as assistant video director for the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars and one year (1994-1995) as a video engineer with ESPN. Goldstein is currently the president of the Collegiate Sports Video Association. A native of Woodstock, N.Y., he majored in television, radio and film production at Syracuse University in 1994.
William G. Nisen
Bill has more than 25 years of international experience in the consumer software, interactive media and Internet industries. Mr. Nisen is the founder of the Kelvin Institute. Immediately before coming to Scotland to lead the Kelvin Institute, Mr. Nisen was the founding partner of South Fork International, a San Francisco based management consultancy specialising in assisting high technology start-ups. Prior to co-founding South Fork International, he was President of McGraw-Hill Home Interactive, where he successfully launched the company's interactive multimedia business. Before McGraw-Hill, he founded Nisen Consulting Ltd., where he provided management and technology guidance to emerging interactive media companies both in the United States and in Europe. From 1987 through 1993 Nisen was President and CEO of OWL International, a joint U.S./European leading edge technology company, where he directed a turn-around of the company, managed its growth with sales exceeding $10MM, sold it and successfully transitioned all operations to Matsushita Electronics Industrial.
Nisen also has held management positions at Lotus Development Corp. and Harvard University's Computer Graphics Laboratory. Nisen also serves on the board of directors for several technology companies. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth and his Masters of Arts degree from McGill University.
Matt Schaub
Matt Schaub is currently in his first year as the starting quarterback for the NFL franchise Houston Texans. Matt joins the Texans after spending 3 years as a backup with the Atlanta Falcons.
As a graduate of the University of Virginia, he finished his career as one of best players in school history. He currently holds several UVA career records that include pass completions (716), attempts (1,069), passing yards (7,502), total offensive yards (7,560), touchdown passes (56), 300-yard passing games (eight) and 200-yard passing games (20).
In 2002 Matt was recognized as the ACC Player of the Year and entered the 2003 season as a Heisman Trophy candidate. Matt finished his career at Virginia as one of the most decorated athletes in ACC history.
